August 5, 2007 - Virgin Fest Day 2 Part 1

1:10 PM:
I started the second day a bit earlier than the first. The first artist of the day was
Regina Spektor.  This was one of the only artists that my girlfriend wanted to see between the
two days, so we were on time for her set.  She played a solo set, just her and a piano.  She
used a guitar on two songs.  The crowd seemed to all be fans, and I could hear a lot of
singing along.  It wasn't too crowded, either due to it being early, or everybody being
elsewhere.  Se played all of her new songs, with such notables as Fidelity, a John Lennon
cover, and Sampson.

2:25 PM : The next stop was Andy C and Dieselboy DJ tag team set.  They were spinning at
the dance tent.  The crowd was really getting into the jungle.   We watched them until it was
time to go to the first signing.

3:30 PM: The first signing of the day was Regina Spektor.  The people running the signing
were acting crazy, only letting you get things bought from the Virgin Megastore get signed
there.  We bought a copy of her newest cd to get signed, and even handed her a dollar to sign
despite the people running the show.  While waiting for her to arrive, we were able to hear the
excellent all instrumental band, Explosions in the Sky.

4:00 PM: The next band was Panic! At the Disco.  I only saw them for about half an hour, but
they did play one of my favorite tunes of the weekend.  They played a very kick ass cover of the
Weight by the Band.  Props to them for pulling that off and not having it sound gimmicky.

4:30 PM: The second signing of the day was from Interpol.  Our wait in line was soundtracked
by DC's own Bad Brains.  I got a remix cd of theirs signed.  Again it was the weird rules, only
purchased items signed, no pictures.
